Before 1893
- No birth registrations were kept by the county or state prior to 1893 - except for a short period from 1852-1854 (but none for Centre County).

1893 - 1905
- Birth registrations were kept at the county level from 1893-1905.
- Centre County Register of Wills & Clerk of Orphans' Court holds these records.

Delayed Birth Records
- Delayed birth certificates may exist for persons attempting to prove qualification for Social Security benefits after 1937. These records are usually filed in the county where the individual applied which may not be the county of birth.
